Installation is carried out on-site for a flat fee of $80.
The aluminum flywire is cut to length, laid out on the flywire door and the beading is nailed down to secure the screen. Excess is then trimmed away, and the door is ready to hang.

Self-closing hinges are screwed into the door jam and the flywire door is put in place. Once everything is lined up perfectly, the flywire door is screwed into place and the door is secured.

At this stage, your latch or handle is installed, and the process is complete.

Installation

We have a great range of spring loaded hinges, handles, snibs, catches and locks available to install with your flywire door.
Generally, our customers choose the following option for hardware.

Brass snib catch: $50
Spring loaded hinges: $30
The brass snib catch is a compact unit with an easily accessible handle, and is lockable from the inside. The snib catch also features a heritage style brass handle on the outside of the door.

The spring loaded hinges are silver in colour, and the speed and strength with which the door is shut is readily adjustable, even whilst the door is still hanging.

Other hardware options and costings are available upon request. Of course, you are more than welcome to source your own hardware, subject to suitability. In this instance, the installation fee might also vary, depending on the complexity of the installation job required.

Hardware

Due to the variable nature of painting, we leave this process up to you the customer.
Undoubtedly, you will want to paint the door the same colour as other parts of your dwelling. Most times, you will have some of the original colour and finish leftover from previous painting jobs. Colour matching and finishing is a difficult thing for us to match up exactly, and this is why we always leave it up to our clients.

You are welcome to take your time to get the painting job just right. As soon as the door and the beading have been painted, are dried and ready to install, you can simply call us again to arrange a time for installation if necessary.

Painting

Once your order is finalized, we will commence work on your door(s) at our home workshop in East Geelong.
Our Australian Hardwood is hand-selected at the timber yard, taking care that there are no flaws, knots, bends or bows in the timbers. This ensures that your door will look great stained or painted, and that the door maintains it's shape and functionality for years to come.

The lengths of timber are cut to size, drilled and dowelled together to make the door frame. Ornate corner pieces are glued and nailed into place. Three of our styles also feature decorative wood turnings in the centre, which are also fitted at this stage.

The door is then puttied up and sanded, ready for painting or staining and varnishing.

Hardwood beading is also cut to size, which will be used later during the installation process.

Turnaround time from order confirmation to delivery is 7-10 working days, and can be sooner depending on seasonal demand.

Once the door is ready, we will contact you to arrange a delivery time to your home address.

Manufacturing Process

Once you have contacted us, we will arrange an appointment with you on site to measure up your door(s) and discuss the best options and styles to suit your specific needs.
As well as measuring the door frame's height and width, we measure the appropriate distance to the middle section of your front door. This is particularly important for heritage style doors with ornate panelling, because the flywire door should marry in with the unique design and panels of your specific door.
We also have display items on hand including our range of hinges, handles, snibs, latches and locks. These items can be selected with the order, or your selection can be made later at the time of installation.
Of course, the initial measure and quote comes to you free of charge. Your next step is to contact us again as soon as you are ready to proceed with the order.
